A SELECT statement can consist of the following basic clauses.

Examples
Return all columns:
SELECT * FROM Resources
Rename a column:
SELECT [Permission] AS MY_Permission FROM Resources
Cast a column's data as a different data type:
SELECT CAST(AnnualRevenue AS VARCHAR) AS Str_AnnualRevenue FROM Resources
Search data:
SELECT * FROM Resources WHERE Type = 'FILE'
Return the number of items matching the query criteria:
SELECT COUNT(*) AS MyCount FROM Resources
Return the number of unique items matching the query criteria:
SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT Permission) FROM Resources
Return the unique items matching the query criteria:

Summarize data:

Sort a result set in ascending order:
SELECT FullPath, Permission FROM Resources ORDER BY Permission ASC
Restrict a result set to the specified number of rows:
SELECT FullPath, Permission FROM Resources LIMIT 10
Parameterize a query to pass in inputs at execution time. This enables you to create prepared statements and mitigate SQL injection attacks.
SELECT * FROM Resources WHERE Type = @param
Aggregate Functions
COUNT
Returns the number of rows matching the query criteria.

COUNT(DISTINCT)
Returns the number of distinct, non-null field values matching the query criteria.
|
AVG
Returns the average of the column values.
|
MIN
Returns the minimum column value.
|
MAX
Returns the maximum column value.
|
SUM
Returns the total sum of the column values.

JOIN Queries
The Provider for Azure Data Lake Storage supports standard SQL joins like the following examples.
Inner Join
An inner join selects only rows from both tables that match the join condition:

Left Join
A left join selects all rows in the FROM table and only matching rows in the JOIN table:

Date Literal Functions
The following date literal functions can be used to filter date fields using relative intervals. Note that while the <, >, and = operators are supported for these functions, <= and >= are not.
L_TODAY()
The current day.

L_YESTERDAY()
The previous day.
|
L_TOMORROW()
The following day.
|
L_LAST_WEEK()
Every day in the preceding week.

L_THIS_WEEK()
Every day in the current week.
|
L_NEXT_WEEK()
Every day in the following week.

The previous n days, excluding the current day.

Every day in every week, starting n weeks before current week, and ending in the previous week.
